Health Programs - Aboriginal Healing Foundation

Tansi!

I’m Kelly Dion (Manager) for the Aboriginal Healing Foundation (AHF).

Let me be the first to tell you of our wonderful program that has captured the hearts of our Former Indian Residential School Survivors (IRSS).

We the AHF staff have been conscientiously offering exciting culturally related events and activities to our community members (specifically to individuals who have attended surrounding Indian Residential Schools (as well as their families), with the opportunity to embark on various Traditional and Western Healing Therapies, Methods and Approaches.

Thus, prompting important coping mechanisms used in identifying and managing differing traumatic distress stemming from Indian Residential Schools.

Our ultimate goal is to assist our IRSS and their families with the opportunity in Restoring Our History. Launching and instilling our legacy to our children and grandchildren by offering culturally related events and activities that are historically embed in our identity, endurance, as well as, our survival.

The most important healing tradition that our IRSS wish to offer to our youth is establishing a historical account of our ancestors; allowing others to identify, understand and learn issues and concerns that have effected and affect our community.
