About the Role
Responsibilities
To oversee the School Bus/Van Transportation for CNES, TTES & FLOS
Oversee the bus contracts for Heinsburg school
Supervise transportation staff
Oversee school bus routes and monitoring kilometers for each route
Monitor and ensure daily traffic logs are maintained
Create purchase orders for delivery and return of equipment and vehicles
Approve purchases, school bus/van repairs, staff leaves, attendance & personnel issues
Approving/working with various contractors
Operating a school bus/van as required for services
Monitor and ensure that all school buses/vans before and after trips
Monitor weather, traffic, obstructions, equipment failures and other complicating factors
Ability to use a computer and programs to assist with job requirements
Monitor and ensure that vehicles are inspected daily to identify issues and necessary repairs
Arrange training for staff
Complete regular maintenance tasks, such as booking in school buses and vans for regular oil changes, repairs and Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program (CVIP) to professional services
Oversee the scheduling of staff and dispatching of vehicles
Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate daily operations of the transportation department
Prepare and submit detailed transportation reports
Reporting to the Superintendent of Learning
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Experience with supervision of transportation department and personnel or supervision in other fields
Train workers in duties and policies
Must have the ability to: lift up to 50 lbs
Mechanically inclined and the ability to troubleshoot issues with school buses and vans
Keep up to standards with CVIP
Ensure transport compliance with Alberta regulations
Experience with operating a school bus/van
Good problem solving, organizational, time management, and record keeping skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer literacy
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Attention to detail
Ability to work independently or on a team Salary will be based on experience and qualifications

Requirements
Minimum 3 years’ supervisory experience
Reliable Transportation with a Valid Class 1, 2 or 4 drivers licence
Have successfully taken the School Bus Driver Improvement Program to get the S endorsement on your driver’s licence
Clean driver’s abstract
Pass a Criminal Record Check
Pass a Child Welfare Record Check (CYIM)
Possess – Standard First Aide
